The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an order for the interim forfeiture of a popular entertainer, Pretty Mike’s Victoria Island property. Recall that the property was alleged to have been used for drug dealing and storage.
Justice Musa Kakaki made the order on Tuesday after an ex parte motion filed and argued by the counsel for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr Buhari Abdulahi.
The property, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, known as Proxy Lagos Night Club, was said to have been used to store 169 cylinders (384.662 kilograms) of nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas) and 200 grams of cannabis sativa.
The NDLEA accused owners of the property, Mike Nwalie and Joachim Hillary, of using the premises to store and distribute the illicit substances pending a planned drug party.
NDLEA’s lawyer, Abdulahi, while moving the motion exparte dated October 27, 2025, urged the court to order the interim forfeiture of the nightclub to the Federal Government of Nigeria, being an instrumentality of crime under the NDLEA Act.
He also told the judge to suspend all activities at the nightclub pending the end of the agency’s investigation into the alleged drug operations.
According to Abdulahi, it is a statutory requirement to obtain an interim forfeiture order to keep watch over the building during investigation, and both the accused and accuser will not be prejudiced by the court’s decision.
In an affidavit deposed by the Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu, the NDLEA noted that it got credible intelligence in October 2025 about preparations for a large-scale drug party at Proxy Lagos Night Club.
After surveillance, it claimed operatives of the Lagos Strategic Command raided the premises on October 26, 2025, around midnight.
During the operation, 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide and 200 grams of cannabis sativa were recovered.
More than 200 people, including the two respondents, were reportedly apprehended.
The affidavit declared that Mike Nwalie owns the nightclub, while Joachim Hillary works in the premises and is involved in drug sales and distribution.
The case was adjourned by the court till January 28, 2026.
