There was pandemonium on Saturday evening at Aduwawa (2nd Oando) Benin Expressway, Edo State, as a drunk policeman, while trying to stop a suspected “Yahoo Boys” vehicle, shot a woman waiting to cross the road.
“Apples Bite” exclusively reports that the policeman and other members of his team from Aduwawa Police Station mounted a checkpoint at 2nd Oando and tried stopping a suspected “Yahoo Boys” vehicle, who speed off, and the drunk policeman (identify unknown) opened fire which hit the victim.
“Apples Bite” is yet to confirm if the victim, said to be a student of UNIBEN, survived as two policemen immediately rushed her into a vehicle and took her to a hospital.
Immediately after the victim was rushed to the hospital, angry youths and commuters approached the policemen as they withdrew with the drunk policeman for safety.
According to an eye witness who spoke on anonymity, the victim was going on her own before the incident occurred at Oremedu, 2nd Oando area of Benin City, Edo State.
“The lady that was shot has been taken away by two policemen, they quickly rushed her to a hospital that I do not know,” the witness said.
When “Apples Bite” confronted other members of the police team, a policeman revealed that his colleague was drunk and had been cautioned about his drinking habit.
