Kaduna Sharia Court Judge, Abubakar Is Dead

A judge at an Upper Sharia Court in Kaduna State, Malam Dahiru Lawal Abubakar has been declared dead.
The deceased Applesbite understands was the Chief Imam of Maiduguri Road Juma’at Mosque in Kaduna.

The cleric according to reports died on Wednesday morning at the age of 52 after battling an undisclosed illness for some days.

Abubakar who resided in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state was being treated earlier at the 44 Army Reference Hospital before he gave up the ghost this morning.

Applesbite understands that the deceased was one of the sons of a late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Lawal Abubakar, and an older brother to a former editor of Daily Trust Editor newspaper, Malam Nasiru Lawal Abubakar.

Meanwhile, gunmen have abducted the aged mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Jigawa Central Senatorial District, Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya.

The gunmen reportedly abducted the 70-year-old victim, Hajiya Jaja from her house in Kiyawa Local Government of the state.

Reports made available to Applesbite have it that the abductors stormed her residence with three cars around midnight on Monday.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, said they are already working in collaboration with other security agencies and the public to ensure her safe return.
