Lagos State Commandant Amb Kuforiji Williams recently visited the sports complex at the Police College, Ikeja. This visit was to collaborate with Chioma Ajunwa, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police and Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist.
Chief Dr. Chioma Ajunwa, who leads an orphanage foundation focused on transforming the value systems of the youth, shared insights into her foundation’s efforts and expressed a keen interest in partnering with the Peace Corps of Nigeria to combat youth drug abuse.
During the visit, Commandant Williams outlined the successes of the Peace Corps, particularly in youth engagement and promoting volunteerism to deter drug use. Dr. Ajunwa stressed the critical role of volunteerism, encouraging officers to participate more actively to make a meaningful impact.
In recognition of his commitment to the Corps’ mission, Commandant Williams was invited to deliver a keynote speech at an upcoming United Nations International Day event addressing drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Joining Amb Kuforiji Williams on this visit were the Assistant State Commandant in Charge of Works and the Special Duty Officer.
