The All Progressives Congress has blasted governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party over their recent criticism of the ruling party.
APC recently accused them of failing in their role as leaders while misleading the public with “empty rhetoric.”
Recall that the PDP Governors’ Forum, via a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday, alleged that the elections were marred by intimidation and excessive deployment of security forces.
Reacting, APC, via its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, blasted the PDP governors’ statement, describing the party’s allegations as “hypocritical and comical.”
According to him, the opposition party is clearly in ruins, the reason the PDP has been rejected by Nigerians in successive elections.
APC highlighted its “dominant victory” in recent bye-elections as proof that President Bola Tinubu’s government’s Renewed Hope policies are resonating with Nigerians
“It is morbidly comical for the Governors of the PDP, a party in deep comatose, savagely crippled by intractable crisis of its own making, and turned an unrecognisable shadow of its old self, to be making statements that only aptly describe its own doomed fate, now and in the lead-up to 2027,” it read.
The ruling party further noted that the PDP governors have no moral authority to criticise its government, alleging that they have all failed to deliver good governance in their states despite benefitting from the highest-ever federal revenue allocations under the current administration.
APC concluded by saying that the clueless governors have no right to tell Nigerians what to do in 2027.
“Even with federal revenue allocation to state governments more than doubled under this President of Progress, distributing ₦2 trillion as of July 2025, the PDP Governors have continued to fail their citizens with disgracefully dismal performance in the governance of their states.
These inept governors are in no position to suggest to Nigerian voters what their disposition to the 2027 elections should be. The PDP has nothing of value to offer Nigerians now, andn’t had any credible alternative ideas or policies to offer in the last three general election cycles,” it added.
