US-based Nigerian blogger and YouTuber Funke Ashekun has posted court documents on social media to counter reports of being fined $50,000 for defaming the general overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles, Pastor Daniel Olukoya.
Apples Bite Magazine had earlier reported that a Baltimore County Circuit Court in the United States, presided over by Theresa Adams, hit Mrs. Ashekun with a $50,000 fine as damages for defaming Olukoya, according to a statement by Olukoya’s media aide, Collins Edomaruse.
In reaction on Saturday, Ashekun shared court documents on Instagram Story, saying Olukoya was not a plaintiff in the matter and she could not have been fined for defaming him.
She explained that she was sued for defamation by three pastors of the church in the USA, Adekunle Adekola, Kunle Ladipo, Grace Ugeh and two branches of the denomination which are MFM, Rockville, Maryland and MFM, USA.
She said the court only fined her in favour of MFM, USA and not for the other parties in the suit.
Before the judgment, Ashekun used to call out an unidentified pastor she calls ‘Pharoah’ whom she has accused of sexually molesting women.
Last November, she said via YouTube that she was shocked about the lawsuit, stressing that she did not mention the name of any church or pastor in particular in any of her posts.
“I’ve never mentioned the name of any pastor or any general overseer. I have been talking about Pharaohs. Pharaoh is a Biblical name. We all know Pharaoh to be an oppressor of God’s children,” she said.
