DStv, Africa’s leading cable television provider, has removed several channels, including Africa Magic Urban, from its platform. The removals affect a broad range of programming categories, such as sports, news, religious content, and children’s shows.
According to findings by Apples Bite Magazine, subscribers discovered that these channels were no longer accessible, with no official communication from DStv on whether they would be reinstated. Reports indicate that the channels were gradually removed between January and August, with the latest being PBS Kids on channel 313.
Subscribers attempting to access some of the affected channels, including channel 313, received a message from DStv stating, “This channel is closed. Press ‘i’ or check the 8-day TV Guide to find out when it will open.” This channel removal comes on the heels of a recent increase in subscription fees across DStv’s various bouquet plans.
