The 2nd edition of the DeepTech Summit (DTS), hosted by University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), is set to happen in Benguerir, Morocco, on the 8th – 9th of May, 2025.

Announcing that the summit will shed more light on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can transform food production and drive entrepreneurial growth across Africa, the Director of Entrepreneurship and Venturing at UM6P and Chief Executive, UM6P Ventures, Yassine Laghzioui, has said that the summit will take centre stage next month.

Themed “Redefining Progress: How AI is Transforming DeepTech Innovation,” Yassine revealed that the summit is completely relevant to the current African landscape because it directly tackles issues concerning food security and the expansion of the continent’s ventures that focus on innovation.

According to him, the gathering would be a call to connecting tech development with real-world problems, and it will go a long way towards offering hope to a nation like Nigeria with several food insecurity issues.

“This second edition captures a key moment, where Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the landscape of DeepTech, from the lab to the value chain.

It’s a call to connect breakthroughs with real-world challenges, with Africa as a living lab of innovation,” he said.

Yassine is of the opinion that by having discussions about how AI-driven tools can aid resource management, enhance harvest, and guarantee sustainable farming, the country’s agricultural sector can be completely transformed.

He believes that by using AI for key tasks like soil analysis, precise weather predictions, which is key for effective planting, and efficient pest control, the nation can develop its food production capacity, decrease dependence on imports, and deliver key economic opportunities for members of its agricultural communities.

Laghzioui added that the DeepTech summit can also be the catalyst for business development across Nigeria, including the country’s impressive tech ecosystem.

During the gathering, stakeholders will talk about how to empower African business owners to become trend-setting entrepreneurs while creating crucial job opportunities.

He added that the attendees of the summit will be granted access to quality pitch sessions, vital networking privileges, and direct conversations with academic and institutional experts from across the continent.
