Phase3 Telecom has collaborated with Laser Light Africa, a subsidiary of Laser Light Companies, to offer an innovative Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution across the 600km terrestrial fibre corridor which connects Lagos State to Accra, Ghana.
The initiative themed, “Fiber Meets AI,” will help to develop scalable, low-latency compute and storage solutions, while serving the ever–popular Lagos–Accra route. With a population predicted to exceed 50 million in two years time, the Lagos–Accra corridor is definitely a high-priority route for tech empowerment and inclusive connectivity.
Speaking on the initiative, Phase3’s Chief Growth Officer, Mr. Craig Lowe, revealed that the partnership with Laser Light Africa represents a crucial period in the company’s roadmap to improve the digital ecosystem across the West African region.
He maintained that taking the right steps with the available aerial fibre infrastructure and micro data centres can go a long way towards aiding enhanced latency, safe connectivity, and AI-ready platforms.
“This partnership marks a pivotal moment in our roadmap to enhance the digital ecosystem across West Africa. By leveraging our aerial fibre infrastructure and strategically located micro data centres, we are enabling hyperscalers, CSPs, and enterprises to deploy high-performance cloud services closer to end users- facilitating improved latency, secure connectivity, and AI-ready platforms,” he said.
Laser Light Africa is also set to offer space-based redundancy via its forthcoming all-optical satellite constellation, thereby guaranteeing a resilient network and widening digital access across ECOWAS markets.
According to President SADC Region at Laser Light Africa, Mr. Derek Friend, Phase3’s robust deployment model proves they are aligned with Laser Light in the quest to deliver safe, far-reaching, and cost-effective digital infrastructure all across Africa.
