President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to increasing investment in schooling to enhance access to quality education in Nigeria.
He recently had his say during the groundbreaking of a N4 billion Senate Building project at the Federal University, Kashere (FUK), in Gombe State.
Speaking through Prof. Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Tinubu revealed that the occasion is a pivotal step toward strengthening Nigeria’s educational infrastructure.
According to him, the university would not just offer opportunities for academic excellence but also serve as a catalyst for further social and economic development.
The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny Echono, declared that 4 major infrastructure projects would be inaugurated at the university as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to develop tertiary institutions in the country.
He maintained that President Tinubu approved the Senate Building project as part of his strategic investment in tertiary education.
“TETFund remains firmly committed to supporting institutions like the FUK with the necessary resources to grow and thrive.
In the last two years, we have completed and inaugurated 687 capital projects in various higher institutions across Nigeria,” he said.
Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya hailed the gesture, adding that it aided fast infrastructure development in the institution.
He concluded by urging the university to keep upholding the principles of excellence no matter the challenges it faces.
“Federal University of Kashere has come a long way in a relatively short time. I commend all those who have contributed to its progress.
The institution must remain resilient, uphold the principles of excellence, and be prepared to stand the test of time,” he added.
