The National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress has named the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Yilwatda Nentawe, as national chairman of the party.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who heads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, recently announced the motion at the ongoing 14th meeting of the Committee holding at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
The motion was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the minister was immediately sworn in thereafter.
Nentawe took the oath of office at 02:50 pm in the presence of party bigwigs during the 14th NEC meeting holding at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday.
Nentawe, who is from Plateau State, North Central Zone, was the APC’s Governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.
Recall that the All Progressives Congress announced a change in the venue and time of its National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for today, July 24, 2025.
The meeting, which was previously scheduled to be held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, was rechedued to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa by 2pm.
Speaking via a press statement, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, declared that the change happened due to logistical reasons.
“The change of venue from the party’s National Secretariat – 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja to the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja is due to logistical reasons,” he said.
