The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, has urged politicians from the Northern Region to wait until 2031 to contest for president.
He recently hailed the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation for providing a platform where Nigerians and the government can rub minds to improve governance, democracy and development.
Speaking during a two-day Interactive Season on Government-citizens’ Engagement in Kaduna, Akume begged politicians from the Northern region to avoid stagnating the several developments Tinubu has been putting in place.
According to him, President Tinubu has done a lot to touch the lives of Nigerians positively since he assumed his position, and he intends to do more.
“I will urge politicians from the Northern Region to wait till 2031.
Do not join a group that will stagnate the various developments achieved by President Tinubu.
The president had positively touched all parts of the country and every citizen,” he said.
George Akume further noted that Tinubu deserves to be encouraged for the good job he has been doing as president thus far.
He concluded by saying that the misinformation online about BAT’s administration should be ignored because the president has delivered on his promise to deliver impartial governance.
“Tinubu promised impartiality in governance and he has done that without breaking the promise.
There is a need to encourage someone who is doing well, so that he can do more.
There is a lot of misinformation in some aspects of the media.
Tinubu has strengthened the security architecture in the country, revitalised agriculture with progressive initiatives.
We have witnessed intervention that led to a reduction in prices of food produce, improved food security and infrastructure across the country,” he added.
