The Peoples Democratic Party has come out to celebrate with Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el Maulud. The party recently urged Nigerians to embrace the values of national rebirth and unity.
Speaking via a press statement, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, urged Muslims to use the celebration to reinforce their fight against totalitarianism in Nigeria.
According to him, because Eid-el Maulud is a demonstration of the supremacy of the Will of the Almighty Allah on earth, Eid-el Maulud should serve as an opportunity for Muslims to seek divine direction in all of their activities as Nigerians.
“The Peoples Democratic Party rejoices with Nigerians, particularly the Muslim Ummah, on this year’s celebration of the Eid-el Maulud urging them to use the occasion to foster the much-needed national rebirth and reinforce their resolve against totalitarianism in our country.
Eid-el Maulud, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) comes as a demonstration of the supremacy of the Will of the Almighty Allah in the affairs of men. It also presents us as a nation, particularly leaders, the opportunity to retrace our steps and seek divine direction in all our activities as exemplified in the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet,” it read.
The PDP further blasted the All Progressives Congress-led government over its oppressive policies, causing widespread hardship, insecurity, and corruption across Nigeria.
The party concluded by warning the ruling party to use the occasion to introspect and stop taking Nigerians for granted.
“The PDP calls on the APC-led Government to use the occasion to introspect and end its affliction on the people by reviewing all its oppressive policies that continue to wreck hardship, promote insecurity and life-discounting experiences across the country.
Also, the APC should respect the sovereign Will of Nigerians, listen to alternative opinions, which is the hallmark of democracy and abandon its quest for the introduction of totalitarianism in our country.
It is indeed lamentable that despite the anguish being faced by Nigerians, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration has remained insensitive and continues to condone corruption and mindless pillaging of our national resources by APC members and its apologists.
It is also heartrending that while millions of Nigerians cannot afford to celebrate and commemorate an occasion as significant as the Eid-el Maulud due to excruciating hardship occasioned by APC policies, APC leaders are arrogantly luxuriating and displaying their extravagant lifestyle while disregarding the welfare of the citizens.
The PDP cautions the APC to stop taking Nigerians for granted as its actions amount to pushing a people to the wall and daring them to do their worse.
Our party, however, calls on Nigerians not to despair but continue to show love to one another while remaining resolute in their rallying with the PDP to salvage the nation,” it added.
