The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has called on the Federal Government to secure the safe return of the abducted school children in St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, in Niger State. He recently described the latest case of abduction as yet another sad episode in a deeply troubling pattern of school kidnappings that has gone on for far too long.
In a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Kwankwaso said that the St. Mary’s school report was very distressing and frustrating.
According to him, the pattern of school kidnappings is a sad trend that cannot be allowed to continue, especially when it involves innocent children.
“I have received distressing reports from Niger State confirming that a number of students have been abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri.
This is yet another sad episode in a deeply troubling pattern of school kidnappings that has gone on for far too long,” he wrote.
Kwankwaso further noted that the FG must act swiftly to secure the release of the children before things get out of hand.
He concluded by saying that the protection of schools and vital learning centres should be a priority for any responsible government.
“The authorities must act with utmost urgency to secure the safe return of these children.
Beyond rescue, we must make the protection of schools and all critical centres of learning and human progress an absolute priority,” he added.
