Zaynab Ngohemba, who recently married Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, has addressed their union, emphasizing that it represents a partnership grounded in shared values and commitment to public service.
The couple wed in a private ceremony several weeks ago, drawing attention given Akume’s prominent government role and Zaynab’s own public profile.
Through her media aide David Adeoye, Zaynab clarified that the marriage focuses on strengthening their existing dedication to serving others rather than personal transformation.
“This partnership is shaped by maturity, shared purpose, and mutual understanding,” the statement explained, adding that personal stability supports effective public responsibility.
Adeoye described the union as bringing together two people already committed to service, reinforcing values including humility, discipline, empathy, and responsibility.
He noted the marriage’s significance during a period when Nigerians increasingly expect integrity and compassion from public officials, suggesting it demonstrates leadership that balances authority with genuine care for citizens.
“When Nigerians seek more humanity from their leaders, this union reflects that effective service stems from shared values, stability, and forward-thinking vision,” the statement said.
Zaynab, previously known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, was formerly married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. Their traditional marriage in March 2016 ended in separation the following year. She held the title Olori Wuraola during their 17-month marriage.
