A Sagamu Magistrate Court in Ogun State has released Adeniyi Kayode on bail following his arraignment over a December road accident that killed two members of British boxer Anthony Joshua’s training team.
The 46-year-old driver, who was behind the wheel when the crash occurred, was granted bail set at N5 million with two sureties. Magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun adjourned proceedings until February 25, 2026.
Kayode faces four charges including dangerous driving causing death, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license—offenses punishable under the Federal Highway Act.
The December 29, 2025 collision along the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway claimed the lives of Joshua’s personal trainer Latif Ayodele and conditioning coach Sina Ghami when their Lexus SUV struck a stationary truck. Joshua and Kayode suffered minor injuries.

During Thursday’s hearing, prosecutor Nijiwe Richard requested more time to forward the case file to the State Attorney General’s office for legal review. Defense attorney Abiodun Olalekan objected, stating his client was prepared to proceed, but the magistrate approved the delay.
Joshua has since been discharged from hospital and traveled to Lagos with his mother to pay final respects to his late colleagues. Their bodies were subsequently flown to the United Kingdom, where funeral prayers were held January 4, 2026 at London Central Mosque.
The deaths of Ghami and Ayodele, both considered vital members of Joshua’s support team, have reverberated throughout international boxing circles.
