Ogun State Police Command has charged a Sagamu resident with unlawfully removing human remains from a cemetery after officers recovered four human skulls from his possession.
Gafaru Rasaki was arrested on January 21, 2026, by officers from the Shakura Division in Sagamu, with the Command publicly announcing the case on Thursday, February 5.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a statement released to journalists in Abeokuta, saying authorities acted on credible intelligence that led them to the suspect.
Investigators determined that Rasaki had removed bodies from a local cemetery without authorization. Babaseyi characterized the act as both a violation of the law and a serious breach of respect for the deceased.
The recovered remains have been preserved as evidence, and Rasaki has been brought before a court to face prosecution, Babaseyi said.
