Vice-President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Thursday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2026 African Union Summit.
The summit centers on the theme “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” with discussions aimed at advancing sustainable water management and improved sanitation across the continent.
During his visit, Shettima will participate in the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State and Government, as well as the 30th General Assembly scheduled for February 14-15.
The vice-president’s agenda includes high-level side events and bilateral meetings with political and business leaders to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic, economic, and strategic partnerships throughout Africa.
Shettima is traveling with cabinet ministers and senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria following the completion of his official duties in Addis Ababa.
