Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has ordered the immediate release of February salaries and pensions to civil servants and retirees across the state, in a goodwill gesture ahead of the Ramadan season.
The State Accountant General has been directed to process the payments without delay, according to a statement released Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Dantawasa.
The governor said the early disbursement is intended to give workers and pensioners enough time to prepare for the holy month, ensuring they can commence Ramadan comfortably and without financial strain.
Beyond the financial gesture, Governor Lawal used the occasion to call on civil servants, retirees, and the broader Muslim community in the state to offer prayers during the sacred period — particularly for peace, unity, and stability in Zamfara, which continues to grapple with security challenges. He also urged prayers for sustained economic growth across the state.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the welfare of workers and retirees, describing their well-being as a standing priority. He closed with a goodwill message, wishing Muslims in Zamfara and across the country a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan.
