Governor Dauda Lawal has flagged off a wave of development projects in Anka Local Government Area, signaling his administration’s determination to fast-track sustainable growth across Zamfara State.
The governor, on Tuesday, personally commissioned and inaugurated several landmark initiatives spanning infrastructure, security, governance, and education — a move observers say underscores a deliberate push to extend dividends of democracy to communities long underserved.
Among the projects unveiled are the fully reconstructed and equipped Emir’s Palace, a newly built Anka Local Government Secretariat, and the commencement of work on the long-awaited Anka–Abbare Road. The commissioning also covered dedicated offices for the Hisbah Commission and Community Protection Guards, alongside a reconstructed SAFE School facility in the town.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal stressed that the Anka–Abbare Road is more than just a transportation project — it is a lifeline expected to open up rural communities and stimulate economic activity along the corridor. The new secretariat, he said, will create a more functional and professional environment for civil servants, ultimately improving the quality of public service delivered to residents.
On security, the governor noted that equipping the Hisbah Commission and Community Protection Guards with proper operational bases will sharpen their effectiveness and strengthen grassroots safety. The reconstructed SAFE School, he added, is central to the administration’s vision of providing children with secure, enabling environments to learn and thrive.
Lawal also drew attention to the cultural and governance significance of restoring the Emir’s Palace, describing traditional institutions as indispensable partners in both community development and the preservation of heritage.
Looking ahead, the governor confirmed that projects in Tsafe have already been completed, with commissioning ceremonies in Kaura Namoda and Moriki scheduled in the near future. Work in Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Zurmi, he assured, is advancing steadily and will be wrapped up before the close of the year.
He called on residents and traditional leaders alike to take ownership of the completed projects and ensure their proper upkeep, warning that infrastructure investment yields little without collective responsibility.
The Anka commissionings, officials say, form part of a broader statewide blueprint aimed at driving inclusive growth through targeted investment in infrastructure, security architecture, education, and transparent governance.
