Fidelity Bank Plc is doubling down on its commitment to women’s economic empowerment with the unveiling of the HerFidelity Apprenticeship Programme 2.0 (HAP 2.0), the second edition of its signature initiative designed to transform women into self-sufficient entrepreneurs and community economic drivers.
Building on the momentum of its 2023 debut, HAP 2.0 arrives with stronger partnerships, deeper mentorship structures, and a broader suite of support services aimed at delivering more measurable, lasting impact for participants.
Osita Ede, Divisional Head of Product Development at Fidelity Bank, spoke at a media briefing ahead of the launch, saying the bank had taken a hard look at what worked in the first edition and returned with meaningful upgrades. Participants in the new programme will receive hands-on apprenticeship training under the guidance of industry experts and reputable institutions across fields including hair styling, shoe making, auto mechatronics, and interior decoration.
But the programme goes well beyond teaching a trade. Enrolled women will also gain access to business and financial literacy training, one-on-one mentorship throughout their apprenticeship journey, and direct links to Fidelity Bank’s women-focused and SME financial products. Guidance on business registration and long-term growth strategies is also built into the curriculum.
“We are positioning women not just as trainees, but as future employers, innovators, and economic contributors within their communities,” Ede stated, framing the initiative as central to the bank’s broader mandate of helping individuals grow and economies prosper.
