Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and aspirant for the Ogun State governorship, met with President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Monday to discuss her political ambitions.
In a statement on Tuesday, Obasanjo said she briefed the president on her plans for Ogun State, detailing priorities such as education, healthcare, youth employment, and overall development.
Reflecting on her relationship with President Tinubu, she described it as one built on years of political engagement and mutual respect, noting that it has shaped her approach to leadership. “Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance, and the development of Ogun State and the nation,” she said.
Obasanjo also reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively mobilize support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general election. She emphasized her experience in state politics, saying, “I understand the aspirations and challenges of our people. What Ogun State needs now is leadership committed to transforming every sector of the economy.”
If elected governor, Obasanjo pledged to strengthen education, improve healthcare, and create job opportunities for youths, aiming to ensure that every part of Ogun State experiences meaningful development and an improved quality of life.
