A Nigerian father of three, identified as Herbert, has been found dead in his apartment in Thornaby, United Kingdom, in a tragic incident that has shocked members of the Nigerian community.
He was reportedly discovered lifeless in his home after passing away in his sleep last week. He is survived by his wife and three young children.
The incident comes just days after the reported death of another Nigerian mother of three in the UK, raising fresh concern among members of the diaspora.
According to reports shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by a user known as “The Stress Manager,” Herbert had been under significant emotional and financial pressure following the recent death of his father in Nigeria. He was said to have been deeply affected by the loss and was unable to travel for the burial, though he contributed financially to ensure a dignified funeral.
The post further claimed that Herbert died on the same day his father was laid to rest in Nigeria.
In a particularly distressing detail, it was reported that his children discovered his body in the apartment while their mother was away.
A former president of Nigerians in the UK, Benjamin Kuti, also confirmed the development on his X account, calling for support for the bereaved family.
A fundraising effort has since been launched to assist with funeral arrangements and the repatriation of his remains to Nigeria. So far, £2,633 has been raised toward a £7,000 target.
