A Nigerian man staged a protest at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, alleging that the party abandoned him after he sacrificed his personal assets during the 2023 election campaigns.
Dressed in an APC-branded blue shirt, the visibly distressed man held a placard with the message, “Reward me or kill me,” as he moved around the entrance of the secretariat.
A video of the incident, which surfaced on Facebook before gaining traction on X, showed the man pacing back and forth while shouting toward the building, drawing the attention of security personnel and passersby.
Speaking in the video, he claimed he sold his house due to debts allegedly incurred while working for the party during the elections. When questioned by onlookers about who sent him, he pointed to his APC-branded outfit, insisting it represented those responsible.
According to him, despite his contributions to the party’s campaign efforts, he has received no compensation. He further alleged that the party’s Chief Security Officer threatened him.
The protester also revealed that his financial situation had worsened to the point where he could no longer afford his children’s school fees. He claimed he had left his children in the care of the party’s Chief Security Officer due to his inability to support them.
His placard further read: “I’m a party man, not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”
The short video captured the man’s emotional state as he continued his demonstration at the gate, with no party official seen addressing him.
As of the time of this report, the APC had not released any official statement regarding the incident.
