The Yoruba film industry has been plunged into grief following the reported death of well-known actor and comedian, Adeshina Okiki Oshin, popularly called Janmole.
Reports of his passing surfaced on June 1 after an Ibadan-based radio station announced the news on social media, describing him as a gifted entertainer whose impact on the Yoruba movie industry would not be forgotten.
In a Facebook post, the station expressed sorrow over the development, noting that Janmole was a multi-talented actor, filmmaker, and comedian who made significant contributions to Nollywood.
“Heartbreaking news hits the Yoruba movie industry as multi-talented actor, filmmaker, and comedian Adeshina Okiki Oshin, popularly known as Janmole, has reportedly passed away,” the post read.
The station also extended condolences to his family, friends, the people of Okeho, and members of the Nollywood community.
At the time of filing this report, the cause of death had not been officially confirmed.
His reported death has come as a shock to fans and colleagues, especially considering he survived a serious accident over a year ago, an incident that once raised hopes of a full recovery.
His passing adds to recent losses in the industry, following the deaths of Patrick Okoye and veteran Yoruba actor Fesogboye Oyewole, deepening the wave of mourning within Nollywood.
