Governor Of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum has said that insecurity remains the most difficult challenge he has faced since assuming office in 2019.

Zulum made this known during a courtesy visit by prominent indigenes of Gubio Local Government Area, alongside the 2027 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mustapha Gubio.

The governor explained that leadership comes with heavy sacrifices, noting that the demands of managing Borno State’s security and humanitarian crisis have significantly affected his personal life.

He revealed that in the first 55 days of his administration, he was only able to see his children three times, stressing the intensity of the early days of his tenure.

According to him, while the first four years were extremely challenging, there has been gradual improvement in the security situation, adding that the state is now “seeing light at the end of the tunnel.”

Zulum said his administration remains focused on consolidating gains in security, governance, and development, while preparing the state for a more stable future.

He pledged to leave behind a more secure and stable Borno State for the incoming administration, expressing confidence in Mustapha Gubio’s capacity to lead.

“Insha Allah, before I leave, the situation will be better than now. I will hand over a more stable, more prosperous and more secure government to Engr. Mustapha Gubio,” he said.

The governor also noted that sustaining progress is often more difficult than achieving it, describing governance in Borno as a continuous test of resilience, wisdom, and collective effort.

He further described Gubio as a long-time associate, praising his integrity, humility, and composure, which he said make him well-suited for leadership.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Gambo Gubio, commended Zulum for his achievements in security, infrastructure, and governance, and also appreciated his role in the emergence of Mustapha Gubio as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
