Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy has declared that she will never marry a Nigerian man, citing a past relationship in which her partner appeared more interested in meeting her father than in her.
The billionaire heiress and disc jockey made the statement during a recent podcast appearance, explaining that the experience has left her wary of the intentions of men who approach her.
“I can never marry a Nigerian. It’s impossible. The last one I dated was asking me when he could meet my dad. I didn’t even think they liked me. My dad doesn’t even care who I marry; he just wants me to get married. That’s why I’m so happy for Temi and Eazi,” she said.
In a separate conversation with ZeZe Millz, the 33-year-old DJ opened up about her dating history, revealing she has been romantically linked to men from various walks of life, including a model, a footballer, and a bus driver, many of whom she met through dating apps. She disclosed that she once spent about £400 (over ₦700,000) to join one such platform.
Cuppy said her approach to relationships shifted following her younger sister Temi Otedola’s marriage to singer Mr Eazi. She said she no longer wants complicated relationships and now prefers a low-key partner with a regular job who stays away from social media.
“I’ve dated all kinds of men, but now all I want is a simple 9–5 man with no social media. I once dated a bus driver I met on a dating app that I paid £400 to join,” she said.
DJ Cuppy’s relationships have frequently drawn public attention. She was briefly engaged to British boxer Ryan Taylor in 2022 before the union ended, and has also previously been linked to music executive Asa Asika.
