Nigerian singer Skales has declared that he will not participate in the 2027 general elections, citing a lack of confidence in the country’s current political class.
The music star made the statement in a post on X, where he expressed frustration over what he described as the absence of credible leaders capable of steering Nigeria toward meaningful development.
According to Skales, none of the politicians currently seeking or expected to seek office have demonstrated the vision, competence, or sincerity required to earn his support. He stated that he has lost trust in the nation’s political leaders and does not believe any of them have shown a genuine commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
The singer said he has yet to see a candidate worthy of his vote and insisted that the political landscape is dominated by the same individuals who have repeatedly occupied positions of power without delivering significant progress.
Skales argued that Nigeria needs a new generation of leaders driven by innovation, fresh ideas, and a clear vision for the future. He criticized what he called the recycling of politicians, saying many of them have consistently failed to provide solutions to the country’s challenges.
In his words, he said he would not be voting in 2027 because he does not see any candidate capable of taking Nigeria to a better place. He added that none of the current politicians have convinced him that they genuinely care about the country’s progress.
The singer further stressed the need for younger and more forward-thinking leaders, noting that Nigeria’s future should not be left in the hands of politicians who have repeatedly failed to meet the expectations of the people.
His comments have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians joining the debate on the country’s political future and the kind of leadership needed ahead of the 2027 elections.
