The Anambra State Executive Council has approved the creation of the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC) with an authorised capital base of N200 billion, while the state government will provide 30 per cent of the funding.
The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, announced the decision after the council meeting, adding that selected state assets had also been approved for transfer to the corporation.
According to him, ADIC is expected to serve as a major investment platform for attracting local and foreign capital into the state through public-private partnerships.
“ADIC will operate as a highly attractive platform for both individual and corporate investors,” Mefor said.
The council also approved the launch of Code Anambra Talents Mastery Cohort 2 under the Solution Innovation District (SID), following what it described as the success of the first cohort.
Mefor said the programme was designed to harness the state’s growing pool of technology talent and position Anambra to benefit from increasing global demand for digital skills and innovation.
The SID serves as the Soludo administration’s technology and innovation hub, providing training, mentorship, incubation and support for startups, innovators and entrepreneurs.
In another decision, the council reaffirmed the state of emergency on the environment to address worsening environmental degradation and flooding concerns.
As part of the enforcement measures, a statewide environmental sanitation exercise has been scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., during which communities and businesses will observe a temporary restriction of movement.
The exercise will also mark the beginning of a statewide desilting and waste evacuation campaign aimed at reducing flood risks.
Meanwhile, the council approved the release of N315,460,777.41 for the restoration of electricity in parts of Uli community in Ihiala Local Government Area and at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Chinweoke Mbadinuju Campus, Uli.
