Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has appointed a retired military general, Maj.-Gen. Bala A. Isandu, as Special Adviser on Security, in a fresh push to tighten the state’s security network.
The Plateau State Government announced the appointment on Wednesday, noting that it takes immediate effect.
Isandu brings decades of intelligence and defence experience to the role. He previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Intelligence to the Minister of Defence and also worked as a Director at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
According to the state government, the appointment is part of a wider restructuring effort aimed at reinforcing Plateau’s security architecture, protecting lives and property, and improving safety in schools across the state.
Over a military career spanning more than 30 years, Isandu was involved in multiple local and international security operations and occupied several strategic intelligence positions.
Governor Mutfwang congratulated Isandu alongside other newly appointed officials, citing their professionalism and depth of experience. He charged the new security adviser to bring his expertise to bear in helping the administration achieve a safer and more prosperous Plateau State.
