Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, reassigning the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Abdulmalik Gajam, to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Professor Yahaya Zakari has been appointed to take over as Commissioner for Budget and Planning and was sworn in as a member of the Zamfara State Executive Council on Monday, June 29.
The development was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who said the changes take immediate effect.
Governor Lawal charged the two commissioners to bring dedication, professionalism and a renewed sense of purpose to their new responsibilities, stressing the need to support the administration’s “Rescue Agenda” through effective service delivery.
The cabinet reshuffle followed a meeting of the State Executive Council, where members reviewed ongoing projects, evaluated policy implementation and discussed strategies aimed at accelerating development across the state.
According to the government, the regular Executive Council meetings remain a key platform for monitoring progress, strengthening accountability and refining policies to improve governance and enhance the welfare of Zamfara residents.
The latest changes underscore the Lawal administration’s commitment to maintaining an efficient and performance-driven cabinet focused on delivering meaningful development and improved public service across the state.
