Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, saying the task will be easier than the president’s 2023 campaign.
Wike made the statement on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor said Tinubu’s re-election had become a major focus for him, stressing that he was committed to helping the president secure a second term in office.
According to Wike, he constantly thinks about Tinubu’s re-election and urged residents of Rivers State to give the president massive support during the 2027 presidential election.
“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.
Wike also appealed to Rivers residents to put aside political sentiments and support Tinubu, citing the president’s recognition of the state through development projects and the appointment of Rivers indigenes to important positions in his administration.
He said the people should support candidates based on what they considered to be the benefits delivered to the state.
“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and with several appointments,” he said.
Wike further declared that Tinubu’s 2027 re-election would be less difficult than the 2023 presidential election, urging Rivers voters to ensure the president receives a large number of votes from the state.
“I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it,” he added.
The FCT minister maintained that the Tinubu administration had brought development to Rivers State and had also appointed several indigenes of the state to strategic positions in government.
