Integrated payments and digital commerce company Interswitch Group has urged African technology stakeholders to improve domestic innovations tailored to Africa’s needs.
The company recently reiterated its plan to keep championing tech solutions that connect and empower individuals, businesses, and communities.
The call was made at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Soft Power Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, where key industry players/leaders advocated for better economic self-determination and stronger AI governance as Africa aims to decrease reliance on foreign capital, while preventing unregulated tech deployment.
Speaking at the summit, Interswitch Group, represented by Country General Manager in Kenya, Bernard Kinara, said that the Fintech company will never shy away from triggering conversations about digital transformation geared towards enabling financial inclusion all across Africa.
He shared that if more stakeholders begin to work on tech solutions that will empower our people, businesses and communities, prosperity across the continent will be guaranteed.
Bernard emphasised how Interswitch has done a lot to bring fintechs, banks and other financial service delivery enablers together, while driving social development via the creation of opportunities for women and youth through corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives like #InterswitchSPAK.
Highlighting AI’s potential to heighten access via natural language coding tools that get rid of gender and linguistic hurdles, he noted that Interswitch’s goal is to inspire Africa to greatness through innovation, sustained value and excellence.
The Deputy Governor of Financial System Stability at the Central Bank of Nigeria said that anti-money laundering and fraud detection standards are becoming compulsory with AI support.
The 4th edition of the 2-day summit united leaders, policymakers, investors, and innovators from Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, and other African countries to tackle leadership, investment, and technological development problems.
