The Africa Youth Conference (AYC) stands as the premier annual gathering that brings together youth leaders, policymakers, and key development stakeholders from across the West African sub-region. This transformative event creates a dynamic platform for meaningful dialogue and collaborative action.
Hosted by UNESCO at the prestigious United Nations House in Abuja, the conference serves as a vital forum for in-depth discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event places particular emphasis on developing actionable solutions and strategies to address the multifaceted challenges confronting young people throughout the continent.
The fourth edition of the Africa Youth Conference is scheduled for June 17th and 18th, 2025, embracing the inspiring theme: “We Are Stars: Thriving in a World of Limitless Opportunities.” This theme reflects the conference’s commitment to recognising and unleashing the potential of African youth as catalysts for positive change.
According to conference convener Nwokorie David, this year’s focus centres on SDG 9, which aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation. By highlighting these critical areas, AYC 4.0 seeks to showcase how youth-led initiatives can serve as transformative forces in tackling some of Africa’s most pressing challenges, including poverty, unemployment, economic inequality, illiteracy, and disease.
The 2025 edition boasts an impressive partnership lineup, featuring collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Youth Development, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), and the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre. These strategic partnerships significantly amplify the conference’s impact and extend its reach across the region.
Through this powerful convergence of young minds and established institutions, AYC 2025 promises to be a landmark event that will shape the future of youth development in West Africa and beyond.
