Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian former heavyweight world champion, has reportedly relocated his £150 million (over N280 billion) business empire from the United Kingdom to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old boxer confirmed through corporate filings that he is now resident in the UAE, signalling a major shift away from the UK where he built both his boxing career and extensive business interests.
According to reports by the Daily Mail, official documents submitted for two of his companies—Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited—now list the UAE as his country of residence.
The filings form part of regulatory requirements that compel company directors to disclose their place of residence in official records.
Tax and business considerations
Dubai has increasingly attracted wealthy athletes and entrepreneurs due to its favourable tax structure, particularly the absence of personal income tax.
Joshua previously declared dividend payments of £10.1 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023, income that would ordinarily attract taxation in the UK.
His promotional company, Sparta Promotions Limited, also recorded profits of £20.396 million in 2024 and paid about £6.65 million in corporate tax in the UK during the same period.
Longstanding ties with Dubai
Joshua has maintained strong connections with Dubai for several years, often travelling to the emirate for training camps, holidays and promotional engagements with brands he represents.
The city’s elite sporting facilities and luxury lifestyle have made it an attractive base for global athletes and high-net-worth individuals.
His move places him among a number of wealthy British figures who have chosen to live abroad, including Jim Ratcliffe, owner of Manchester United, and Stelios Haji‑Ioannou, founder of easyJet, both of whom reside in Monaco.
Family confirmation
Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, confirmed that the relocation had taken place several months ago.
“He has already moved to Dubai. He doesn’t need to inform us before making such a move, but I know he moved a while ago, talking of months back now,” he said.
Born in Watford to Nigerian parents, Joshua rose to international fame after winning gold for Great Britain Olympic Boxing Team at the 2012 London Olympics before going on to become a two-time heavyweight world champion.
His relocation signals a new chapter for the boxing star as he shifts his base and business interests to the Middle East.
