Nollywood actress and producer Adunni Ade has said that beauty does not guarantee a long-lasting relationship.
She recently revealed that while physical attraction can be very powerful, it does not sustain love.
Speaking recently during an interview with Vanguard, Adunni said that being admired for beauty is not the same as being seen for who you truly are.
The movie star shared that despite being the most talked about girl in her youthful days, she has yet to get married many years later.
The filmmaker disclosed that when she was loved and desired by several men back in the day, her beauty definitely opened many doors for her, but it never gave her a life partner.
“I used to be the centre of attention, the most admired, the most talked about in my youthful days. Beauty opened many doors. I was loved, I was desired. But guess what? I’m still not married,” she said.
Adunni noted that even though her current single status is not due to her lack of value, it has only made her realise that beauty alone cannot keep a man.
Urging her fellow women to concentrate on building more than their looks, Adunni emphasised how character, values, and personal growth should be every woman’s priority before anything else.
“Some came for the face, not the soul. Some wanted the shine, not the substance. I learned the hard way that a woman must be more than just beautiful.
Build your mind, know your worth, have values, be whole on your own. Marriage will come when it is right, but don’t think beauty is all you need. Life demands more than looks.
Work on yourself, grow, be the kind of woman that doesn’t just turn heads — because in the end, beauty fades, but character stays,” she added.
