Popular singer, Davido, has said he wants plus-size women to be more comfortable in their skin.
He recently had his say while sharing the inspiration behind his single “10 Kilo,” which was one of the tracks off the artist’s recently-released 5th album, “5ive.”
On the track, Davido is heard speaking highly of a woman whose plus-size features he described as “Orobo 10 kilo,” which is simply the pidgin slang for a lady with very thick thighs.
Speaking during an interview on The Ebro Show, OBO disclosed how the song is meant to discourage plus-size women from feeling bad about their skin. Agreeing that the song has a comedic tone it, Davido said that it is a typical Afro-Caribbean R&B song from him that tackles key societal issues on a cheerful note.
“The song is about being comfortable in your skin…It has a comedic side to the song, but that’s a typical Davido record. Afro-Caribbean R&B. That’s what I do,” he said.
Henceforth, Davido’s plus-size stans will definitely appreciate the singer more for thinking about them and their well-being, and this thought further proves that the singer’s relationship with his fanbase is second to none.
Meanwhile, during the same interview, David Adeleke confirmed that he is set to go on a joint tour with popular American R&B star, Chris Brown.
According to him, he and the American artist are working on releasing a joint EP next year, and they have even recorded about twenty songs together thus far.
He revealed that their joint album only got delayed because Chris Brown has had an amazing solo year in 2025, so he needs him to enjoy his deserving moment before they release their work together.
“We can put out two albums right now. The plan is to do a double continent tour. A tour of Africa and Europe with the joint album,” he added.
After collaborating on “Blow My Mind,” off Davido’s second album, “A Good Time,” the duo just can’t stop hitting the music studio together. Chris Brown has since featured David on “Lower Body,” and it has been confirmed that the Nigerian singer and popular producer, KDDO, co-wrote Chris’ hit single, “Under The Influence.”
“Shopping Spree” and “Nobody Has To Know” also happened between 2020 and 2022, before Davido and Lojay earned their first Billboard Hot 100 entries with the track “Sensational,” featuring Chris Brown. “Sensational” was definitely sensational as it went as far as earning OBO a nomination for “Best African Music Performance” at the 67th Grammy Awards.
