Operations at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its various agencies returned to normal on Wednesday as workers resumed duties following a National Industrial Court ruling that halted their strike action.
Justice E. D. Subilim of the National Industrial Court issued the order on Tuesday, directing members of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) to suspend their industrial action immediately and allow negotiations to proceed.
Responding to the court’s decision, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike called on all workers to return to their posts without delay. He emphasized that although democratic rights include the freedom to protest, compliance with judicial directives remains paramount.
The Acting Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti, subsequently released a circular on January 27, 2026, mandating all Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) to resume operations and maintain accurate attendance records to monitor adherence to the court order.
The directive required Permanent Secretaries and agency heads to ensure their staff returned to work immediately, while reiterating the administration’s dedication to employee welfare.
Site visits to FCTA offices and affiliated agencies on Wednesday confirmed substantial compliance, with workers present at their duty stations conducting regular administrative functions.
