Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has blasted veteran filmmaker Afeez Owo for comparing her to his wife, Mide Martins.
Recall that Afeez recently described Wumi as someone whose on-screen persona closely mirrors her real-life temperament.
“Mide’s character in movies is completely different from how she is in real life, but Wumi’s movie roles reflect her true character. Violence is her comfort zone. Wumi reacts when provoked and doesn’t tolerate nonsense, while Mide stays calm even when offended,” he said.
Reacting in a viral clip she eventually deleted, Wumi simply warned Mide’s husband to stop using his interviews to tarnish her image.
According to her, she is not a mad woman in real life, and she has never done anything to trigger Afeez Owo to insinuate such.
Wumi concluded by saying that off-screen, her angry side only shows when she is deliberately provoked by people.
“Must every misunderstanding end up on a podcast? They gave you a microphone and you started talking nonsense. After they served you pepper soup, you began blabbing. Am I a mad woman? If people don’t provoke me, why would I get angry? I’ve never disrespected you, yet I still respect you despite your unfortunate behaviour,’ she added.
Both Wumi Toriola and Mide Martins are popular for their dramatic roles on screen, which has fueled ongoing debate about how closely these roles reflect their true personalities.
