President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the release of 24 schoolgirls abducted by terrorists from a school in Maga, Kebbi State. Recall that the girls were kidnapped at dawn on November 17, briefly after a military detachment left the school premises.
In a press statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Tinubu revealed that their release comes amid an increase in identical kidnappings in other states, including Eruku in Kwara State and Papiri in Niger State.
Commending the security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the students, BAT disclosed that they must intensify operations to rescue any remaining victims still in captivity.
“I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must urgently deploy more boots on the ground in vulnerable areas to avert further incidents of kidnapping. My government will offer all the assistance needed to achieve this,” it read.
The Federal Government concluded by reiterating its commitment to protecting students and vulnerable communities from terrorist attacks, pledging its continued support for security operations across affected regions.
This comes after popular comedian I Go Save described Tinubu’s recent rescue statements as “false flag rescue operations.”
According to him, it is very convenient for the president to announce such rescue operations weeks after the US announced plans to invade Nigeria to stop an alleged Christian genocide.
Tagging the announcements a “smokescreen,” he stressed that citizens must remain prayerful and on alert.
