Popular comedian Gbenga Adeyinka has joined others in mourning live band singer Akinloye Tofowomo, popularly known as Akiin Shuga, who died at 50. Recall that Akiin’s family recently confirmed his death in a statement posted on Instagram.
The statement described the late performer as a revered music icon who was the custodian of rhythm, culture and the spirit of performance.
“It is with profound solemnity and total submission to the will of God that the family of Akinloye Tofowomo (Akiin Shuga) — revered music icon, Grandmaster, and managing director of Shuga Limb Foundation and Shuga Entertainment, Nigeria’s most prestigious live band — announces his passing in New Brunswick, Canada,” it read.
Reacting, Gbenga Adeyinka simply shared a photo of the deceased with the caption, “@akinshuga I love you so much… why? 😭😭😭😭”
Ovation International Magazine editor, Michael Effiong, also stated that Akiin Shuga was a passionate musician who gave his all to humanity.
He prayed for God to bless the soul of the deceased, stressing that the family he left behind need a lot of strength during this trying period.
“OUR END POLIO AMBASSADOR IS GONE… Just a few days ago, AKIIN, a passionate #EndPolioNow Ambassador, recorded this promo for us to commemorate the #Worldpolioday2025. He gave his all to humanity. May God bless his soul and strengthen his family,” he noted.
Public relations expert Samuel Olatunji added, “For Akiin Shuga, it is goodnight. What a sad news! This is the saddest news I have read this year. Akiin Shuga dead? He was part of those clients that stabilized my PR firm. I will never forget!”
