Popular singer Rihanna has opened up about her hair journey. She recently shared how she initially found it hard to embrace her natural hair, and fans have been reacting.
Speaking on the Couch by Lena Situations podcast, Riri revealed that learning to love her hair was a long struggle that ultimately inspired her products.
According to her, falling in love with her natural hair after struggling for many years eventually inspired her to launch her hair products.
The “Umbrella” singer stated that she is now very intentional about creating products that repair damaged natural hair.
“We’ve always been taught to love what you don’t have, especially when it comes to hair. If you have straight hair, you want it to be bigger. If you have big, curly hair, you want it to be straighter and thinner.
That was a struggle for me. Falling in love with my hair again was the biggest inspiration for me to create this brand.
I wanted products that not just worked, but more importantly, I wanted them to repair your hair and replenish your hair every step of the way,” she said.
On her struggles with music, the Grammy award-winning artist further noted that she regularly experiences self-doubt whenever she is about to release an album.
Rihanna concluded by saying that picking the right time to share her creativity with the world has never been straightforward for her.
“When I make my albums, I get to a point where I think, ‘Wow, I’ve lived with it for so long, I know it works, but now I’m about to give it to the world. Is it right? Is it right yet?’
I experience that with all of my product development. If you’re creative, you’re gonna have doubt,” she added.
