Popular singer Waje has shared why she cannot have an opinion about the famous Psquare brothers’ split. She recently revealed that she stays away from the controversy because of her understanding of family dynamics and personal boundaries.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Waje said that being grounded in family means realizing that differences are inevitable.
According to her, it is hard for her to react or pick a side because she does not really know the genesis of the disagreements that led to Psquare’s breakup
The “One Naira” crooner stated that sometimes love from a distance becomes necessary to avoid repeated disputes.
“I try not to have opinions about these things because I have a family. I have siblings. Sometimes, you can decide the kind of friends you want, but you can never decide the kind of family you come from.
Being fully grounded in family means understanding that they will always be different from you. And sometimes, you have to make the decision to say, ‘You know what? I can love you from afar.’ We cannot have an opinion because we don’t know the crux of the matter, and we don’t know how each situation affects them individually,” she said.
Waje further spoke about her standards in relationships, stressing that she cannot marry a man who is not successful.
She concluded by saying that if a man cannot inspire her to grow, they cannot get married.
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s, so we are not growing together.
A man leads — he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success is part of it. Faith and emotional intelligence are also part of it,” she sadde.
