Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has received the 25 Maga schoolgirls rescued from their abductors. He recently confirmed that the girls are in good health, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Speaking to the press, Gov. Idris appreciated the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police for their efforts in the rescue operation.
According to him, the security agencies acted on the order of President Bola Tinubu to rescue the girls unhurt, and he is very grateful for the smooth operation.
He confirmed that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the innocent school kids.
“No Kobo was paid. The military, DSS and other security forces combed the forest and rescued them unhurt,” he said.
The happy governor then commended President Tinubu for not relenting in his efforts to ensure the safe return of the girls and to secure the country.
He concluded by thanking clerics who prayed tirelessly for the success of the operation, stressing that the schoolgirls’ parents also deserve praise for their patience and confidence in the government to secure their release.
This comes after the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy, Sunday Dare, recently reacted to public curiosity over the operational details behind the rescue of 38 persons abducted from Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
He disclosed that keeping the details surrounding the rescue secret was intentional.
In a post shared via his X account, he disclosed that citizens should not forget that the process of freeing kidnapping victims is very complex.
According to him, he can only confirm that the process of rescuing the CAC members involved several security agencies, local intelligence and detailed planning.
Dare stated that the most important thing is that the abducted Nigerians have since regained their freedom.
“The process of securing or freeing victims of kidnappings is often a complicated one involving several steps and multiple security personnel, even local intelligence.
The ultimate goal is to free the captives and of course apprehend the terrorists.
The full details of such operations are never disclosed in full. It’s a security matter,” he added.
