The Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (NOAN) has revealed its plans to make organic agriculture a more popular practice among farmers across the country.
To achieve this, the group is set to bring stakeholders together at its annual general meeting in Lagos, themed “Innovative Organic Food System for National Development.”
According to the secretary of NOAN, Aderioke Oluwagbenro, the gathering will serve as a platform for farmers and farming enthusiasts to rub minds with various agricultural experts, including researchers, processors and policymakers.
Aderioke revealed that at the gathering, farmers will be free to visit any exhibition stand of their choice to purchase natural produce, and Lagos State officials will be present at the venue, including the chairman of the event, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya.
“People will have the chance to visit the exhibition stands to buy natural produce. We are expecting different guests from Lagos State officials and other bodies,” she said.
Announcing that the event is set to go down from the 28th to the 30th of April in Ikeja, Lagos, Aderioke disclosed that panel sessions with organic and health experts will also take place, with topics ranging from innovation and effective organic practices, to agricultural/environmental law and agric business advocacy.
She urged attendees to seize the opportunity the conference will present to boost their visibility for business and take full advantage of the immense potential the organic agriculture movement has to offer in Nigeria.
“We expect that participants will use the conference to join the association and enhance their visibility for business and other laudable potential in the organic and agroecology movement in Nigeria,” she added.
