Achievers University in Owo, Ondo State, has expelled 15 female students for violating the institution’s code of conduct by creating and distributing inappropriate sexual content online.
The announcement came during the university’s matriculation ceremony on Friday, where 936 new students took their oath of admission.
Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, used the occasion to warn incoming students about the consequences of misconduct, stressing the university’s strict disciplinary policies.
“Students who create inappropriate content and associate it with Achievers University will face expulsion,” Ayorinde stated. “We encourage the responsible use of social media for constructive purposes.”
He cited additional cases, including a student near graduation who was dismissed for making threatening statements about security threats. The university refunded his ₦2.3 million in fees before terminating his enrollment.
Ayorinde emphasized that the institution maintains high standards for student behavior. “Those seeking to graduate and succeed professionally cannot engage in such activities. Women are capable of leadership and achievement, not merely objects of entertainment,” he said.
The Pro-Chancellor also addressed other disciplinary issues, noting that 17 students were expelled in 2025 for attempting to fraudulently obtain examination clearance, and three others were dismissed for drug-related offenses. He encouraged students experiencing difficulties to report concerns rather than remain silent.
Parents and guardians were urged to remind their children of their academic responsibilities and the importance of maintaining proper conduct.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amos Aremu told matriculating students that their admission represents an opportunity for personal growth and intellectual development. He acknowledged the challenges ahead—demanding coursework, examination pressures, and balancing academic and personal responsibilities—but framed these as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles.
“These challenges are designed to refine you, build resilience, develop critical thinking, and awaken the leader within you,” Aremu said. “Embrace them, and you will emerge prepared to make a meaningful impact.”
