Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has visited the construction site of a 30-kilometre road connecting Okaka Junction to Igbojaye-Komu in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, a project that provides access to prominent filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film Village and Resorts.
During the Saturday inspection, Makinde reported satisfactory progress on the reconstruction work and toured Afolayan’s facility, which serves as a significant creative industry and tourism destination in the Oke Ogun region.
“Earlier today, we were in Itesiwaju LGA to inspect the ongoing reconstruction/rehabilitation of the 30 km Okaka Junction-Otu-Igbojaiye-KAP Film Village Road. The project is making good progress. We also visited Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film Village and Resorts,” the governor stated on social media.
The road infrastructure connects multiple communities in Oke Ogun while facilitating access to the film village, which has become a key attraction in the area.
Afolayan confirmed the governor’s visit in a Sunday post, characterizing it as a private courtesy call. “Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting the amiable governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for a private courtesy visit at @kapfilmvillageandresort where he further reassured us of his commitment to the development of Oke Ogun and Oyo State at large,” the filmmaker wrote.
Notable entertainment industry figures including Sola Sobowale, Aisha Lawal, Seun Soyinka and Elizabeth Ayodele attended the visit.
The KAP Film Village and Resorts officially opened in April during a ceremony led by Makinde, with Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa in attendance. The governor had pledged at that event to improve the facility’s road access, a promise now being delivered through the current construction project.
