The Oyo State Police Command has dealt a significant blow to a long-running armed robbery syndicate operating in Ibadan, arresting three suspects and recovering stolen property worth ₦31,750,000.
The three men Chigbo Mesoma, 24, Erondu Wisdom, 29, and Okechukwu Emmanuel, 25 — were nabbed following an attempted robbery on Ezekiel Inije along the Coca-Cola axis of Asejire, Ibadan. Acting on a tip-off from alert residents, the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna psc(+), swiftly deployed the CP Monitoring Unit, which tracked and apprehended the suspects at Oko, Ogbomoso.
Among the items recovered were a Howo Long truck with Lagos registration AAA 724 YJ, loaded with 2,000 bags of Karma Agric Chicken Feeds valued at ₦31,750,000, a cutlass, and an additional Lagos State number plate bearing the inscription LSR 339 XW.
Authorities say the trio are members of a criminal gang that has kept Ibadan residents on edge for several months. The police credited the breakthrough to a combination of public intelligence, investigative expertise, and the use of technology in tracking the suspects.
The command has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding lives and property, while also calling on residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement. The suspects remain in custody as investigations proceed.
