US President Donald Trump has told Russia to end its war with Ukraine within 50 days.
He recently revealed that failure to abide by the deadline would lead to Russia facing very harsh economic sanctions.
Revealing his plans for new infusions of weaponry for Ukraine while speaking with reporters as he met with NATO chief Mark Rutte in the White House, Trump disclosed that he is unhappy with Russia.
He stated that secondary tariffs would be introduced to target Russia’s remaining trade partners and eventually cripple the nation’s ability to cope with already sweeping Western sanctions.
“We’re very, very unhappy with Russia.
We’re going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don’t have a deal in 50 days, tariffs at about 100 percent,” he said.
Trump and Mark Rutte also launched a deal under which the NATO military alliance would purchase arms from the U.S., including Patriot anti-missile batteries, and then distribute them to Ukraine to help it battle Russia’s invasion.
The NATO chief pledged that Ukraine would receive “massive numbers” of weapons under the deal.
“This is billions of dollars worth of military equipment is going to be purchased from the United States, going to NATO… and that’s going to be quickly distributed to the battlefield,” Trump added.
