The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, is calling for more investment in agricultural education.
She recently shared that investment should aid the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical enterprise henceforth.
Speaking at the Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) Nigeria 2025 National School Entrepreneurship and Awards in Abuja, Mariya advocated for improved access to financing and tools for young entrepreneurs.
According to her, she can only urge educators, mentors, policymakers, and stakeholders to do more to support tangible actions that will advance youth-led innovation across the nation.
Emphasizing that Nigerian youths are not just leaders of tomorrow, but innovators of today, she revealed that the creativity and technological ingenuity of the youths hold the key to transforming agribusiness and securing Nigeria’s food future.
Mahmoud stressed the urgent need to empower youth-driven agripreneurship as a core solution to Nigeria’s evolving agricultural challenges.
She then praised SAGE Nigeria for its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial ambition, hailing its amazing feat of winning the SAGE World Cup eight times in the last 12 years.
“This success underscores the exceptional potential of Nigerian youth on the global stage,” she said.
The minister stated that Nigeria’s development is currently being shaped by our rapid population growth, climate change, rural unemployment, and food insecurity.
She, however, insisted that the country is specially positioned to conquer these problems via the innovative energy of its young people.
Describing the young entrepreneurs present at the event as “architects of Nigeria’s future,” she maintained that they are more than capable of turning scarcity into plenty and reliance into sustainability.
